Network+

This cert was definitely a doozy. I definitely think this cert is worth more than Security+ with how much knowledge you get. If you don’t have any networking knowledge I would say to not underestimate this cert because it’s ten miles wide and twenty feet deep but if you have the right learning platform like Mike Meyer’s “Comptia Network+ Certification” it will get you on the right track. This course definitely needs other mediums like Jason Dions udemy course and professor messers YouTube series. Taking the time to go through all these is no small task but this combination gives you all the information needed and more.

  1. All-In-One Network+ Exam Guide (Mike Meyers)
    • Long read but has A LOT of great info.
    • Little practice test at end of each chapter to track progress.
    • Objective map (appendix A) was super helpful to find specific topics that I needed more time looking at (gives chapter and page #).
  2. Professor Messer’s N10-007 video series on youtube – Not exactly EVERYTHING that you need to know, but does provide you with a great amount of necessary info – FREE – Also can go back and watch the study group streams (I kind of just fast-forwarded to the different questions, didn’t watch full streams)
  3. Jason Dion’s Udemy practice tests (6 exams) – Offer a pretty good feel for how the test may go on exam day. – PBQs are pretty good practice but definitely not a replica of what is on the actual exam (close, but not exact). – Genuinely challenge you to use that brain! – Offers explanations for all questions and answers. – $11.99 (and I know it says it’s a sale but there is no rush to buy it, it is always $11.99 lol) – Awesome value for the price. – Udemy app allows for on the go studying/practice as well! – Do not be discouraged by lower grades, these can be challenging! (need an 85% minimum to “pass” the practice tests)

My Dion test scores: 81, 81, 77, 81, 89, 88 (I really do feel that these helped a TON)

To anyone nervous about taking theirs, YOU CAN DO IT! Read the questions thoroughly, and remain confident in your ability/knowledge throughout the exam. Always look for keywords, and when in doubt use the process of elimination (pretty much every question I had could be narrowed down to 2-3 potential correct choices, and remember to be ready for PBQ’s.
